LEVPAC chooses Rep. Larry Haler

HALER AN EDUCATION LEADER

On August 27th the League of Education Voters Political Action Committee selected Representative Larry Haler as one of their "Priority Candidates." According to their web site at www.levpac.org/, this statewide grassroots network hopes to combine the energy of local school advocates to elect outstanding candidates who will be "partners in the effort to provide a quality education for all students in Washington State." In selecting Representative Larry Haler as a Priority Candidate, LEVPAC pointed to his leadership in the Republican caucus on early childhood education issues which led to a bipartisan support of the child care quality rating and improvement system (QRIS). They also stated that Larry Haler, "was also a regional leader in the successful expansion of WSU Tri-Cities to a full four-year university."

HALER WORKS ON 8TH DISTRICT PRIORITIES

Since the Primary Election in late August Larry has continued to meet with citizens in the 8th district at the Benton/Franklin County Fair, Prosser States' Day Parade, and walking to the homes of citizens in Kennewick and Richland. This weekend he plans visits to Benton City for the Benton City Daze Parade and to homes in Prosser. As a result of meetings with concerned citizens, Representative Haler is presently working on legislation to protect the voting rights of citizens in irrigation district elections and legislation making it a crime for a school district employee to have sex with a student. Larry will be working on these issues, tackling the state deficit, and facilitating plans for what is now called the, "Washington State Energy Independence Day" scheduled in Olympia on April 2, 2009. The list of priorities will continue to grow because citizens in Richland, Kennewick, West Richland, Benton City, and Prosser can depend on Representative Larry Haler for open, accessible leadership working for them in Olympia.
